Current Restrictions - Member Update

26 October 2020

Dear Cameron,

The Premier's Announcement & Easing of Restrictions

Although there is much to celebrate with today's announcement of an easing of restrictions, for our Club this is tempered by the disappointment for many of our Members who are still unable to attend the Club and play the game that they love by virtue of the 25km travel limit remaining.

Shortly after hearing this news, the Club made representation to Golf Australia, and have since received a response, stating that they have engaged the Minister for Community Sport - Ros Spence - on the 25km travel limit issue on behalf of metropolitan Melbourne Golf Clubs.

We will keep our Members informed as we hear back from them on this matter, and also once they provide an update to Victorian Clubs on the changes to the restrictions.

The 'Third Step' and Our Return to Golf COVID-19 Plan

As always, there is plenty for us all to wrap our heads around with this next step, so here is the summary of what we understand the state of play is for golf in Victoria:

Changes from 11.59pm Tuesday 27th October, 2020:

  • Golf groups move from 2's to 4's
  • Meals can be served (with restrictions)
  • 'Grab & Go' takeaway snacks and drinks can re-open
  • Retail - ie. Pro Shop can re-open

No Change:

  • Members may still not travel more than 25kms from home or work to play golf *
  • Masks must still be worn

Unknown at this stage:

  • Practice Facilities - (remain closed until clarified)
  • Competitions - (no competitions until clarified)
  • Golf Coaching services - (on course lessons only until clarified)
  • Cart/Equipment Hire - (not available until clarified)
  • Locker rooms - (remain closed until clarified)

This summary is all based on the information currently available from the DHHS & Premier's websites this afternoon, and further clarification will no doubt come out tomorrow to clarify some of the items as they relate to Golf Club's.

We have listed below the changes that the Club is putting into place from Wednesday, but please be aware that these may need to be adjusted as more information comes to hand. We will continue to email our Members as we learn more about each area of the Club.

* Note: A reminder that if you have a booking in the hope that the 25km restriction would be lifted, but are still unable to play, please remember to remove your bookings from the time-sheets. We understand how frustrating this situation is and appreciate your patience.

Arrival at The Club

From this Wednesday morning 28th October, we will reopen the breezeway as the only entrance to the Club, with the same system in place that we used prior to the second lock-down.

For a refresher, all Members are to please enter via the front breezeway entrance (pull buggies allowed), and make their way to the Pro Shop as per the image on the right.

Please remain a minimum of 1.5 metres apart at all times, and sanitise your hands each time you enter the building.

Please note that the maximum arrival time of 15 minutes before your booked tee time remains in place until further notice.

Time-Sheet Changes

As all current time-sheets are setup for groups of 2, there will be adjustments made to these time-sheets to accommodate groups of 4p. These changes will be live from 7am tomorrow morning, 27th October:

  • All time-sheets will remain as 1 tee starts, but the interval between groups will move from 6 mins to 8 mins between each group.

  • If you have an existing booking your tee-time may change slightly to facilitate this. Booking reminders will be emailed out, but we recommend checking your booking time to confirm any changes.

Each day will remain as 'open' time-sheets (ie. Men's & Ladies) until further notice.

Food & Beverages are Back on the Menu

Many of you will be happy to know that you will once again be able to get a coffee, beer and something to eat when out at the Club.

Our 'Grab & Go' takeaway offering will be ready and waiting for golfers from this Wednesday, where Betty and the staff are eager to look after everyone so please pop in and ensure that they are kept busy!

Kitchen meals will re-commence from this Saturday and Sunday once we have full clarification of the hospitality restrictions, deliveries arrive and Tong and his team can fully prep to serve delicious, quality meals to our Members once more.

We will communicate more about how this will look for our Members in the coming days, but in the meantime treat yourself to a takeaway coffee and snacks.  I for one can't wait to 'eat out' again!

Pro Shop Services

With retail re-opening so does our Pro Shop, so if you are getting low on balls, need some shorts for Summer or want those new clubs that you have been dreaming about, Tim, Mark, James & Pat will be more than willing to help you!
