Member Dave Micheluzzi 2023 PGA Championship
Member of Cranbourne Golf Club, Dave Micheluzzi, has recently qualified for the PGA Championship in May, the second major of 2023. He opened his PGA Tour debut with a 6-under par round of 65 to sit in 10th after round 1 in the AT&T Byron Nelson Championship.
2023 Youth Pennant
Over at Southern Golf Club, our Youth Pennant team played in their second final in 3 years against Victoria Golf Club. It was fantastic to see so many members out supporting our Youth team, who become the first Youth team ever to represent Cranbourne in Division 1 in 2024.

Division 1 Pennant Finals – Sunday 30th April
We are very excited to be able to host the Division 1 Men’s and Women’s Pennant Finals next Sunday here at the Club. We are expecting a large number of people attending the Club on the day, and encourage you to come out and watch some high quality golf reminiscent of what we saw when we hosted the 2022 Australian Amateur Championship.
Pro Shop Opens March 2023
At the beginning of April, the new Cranbourne Pro Shop will be fully open for business! Led by our own Director of Golf, Tyler Marotti, the shop will be fully stocked with all of your favourite brands, including Footjoy, Glenmuir, Callaway, Daily Sports, and so much more!
2022 Ladies Challenge Bowl
On Monday 17th October, we played our annual Ladies Challenge Bowl, for the first time since 2019 due to the pandemic.
Over 110 ladies played on the day in beautiful sunny conditions despite the recent rainfall.
In the 4BBB Stableford (2-person) event, it would be Rena Casey and Jodie Mays from Lang Lang who were victorious with 46 points, defeating pairs from Centenary Park, Commonwealth & Keysborough.
In the main event of the day, the aggregate 4BBB Stableford, Cherilyne Jackson, Barbara Gordon, Jo Dorrington & Susan McNab won the event (pictured below). They take home the Cranbourne Challenge Bowl for one year!
We look forward to welcoming everyone back next year for the Bowl!
2022 Australian Amateur
We were thrilled as a Club to be selected to host the 2022 Australian Amateur Championships, where a star-studded field of 156 players from all over the world descended on Cranbourne. The Australian Amateur is our nation’s premier amateur event, where the leading male and female earn a start in the Australian Open. This was also the first ever amateur event in Victoria where prize money was on the line.
In the Women’s Championship, Fiona Xu (NZ) led from wire-to-wire to eventually secure a 3-stroke victory from Justice Bosio (QLD). Keeley Marx (VIC) and Kelsey Bennett (NSW) finished in a tie for third.
The Men’s Championship came down to the wire, ending with a three-way playoff between Connor McKinney (WA), James Hydes (NZ) and Jack Buchanan (SA), with McKinney holing a 25-foot putt on the first playoff hole to secure the title.

2022 Cranbourne Senior Amateur Final Results
The last 2 days have seen over 90 men and women compete for the Cranbourne Senior Amateur.
In slightly trickier conditions today, it was Ian McCleary who held his nerve, shooting the best round of the day to win by one stroke to Rodney Ware. McCleary’s result also saw him finish runner-up in the nett with overnight leader Graham Roberts, but it was Peter Walsh who finished two strokes clear in that trophy.
As for the Ladies, Sue Wooster had 37 points playing Scratch Stableford today to win by 12 from Kathy Naoumidis. Kathy took out the regular stableford event by seven strokes from Robyn Charnley.

Ladies Pathway Program Relaunch
Do you know any ladies who might be interested in joining but are reluctant to go straight into competition golf?
Our Ladies Pathway Program was so successful in November that we’ve decided to re-launch it. This time, our PGA Professional Mark Auhl, will focus on preparing the Ladies to transition from beginner level to being confident enough to play in the regular Ladies competitions by the end of the program.
The next phase of the Ladies Pathway Program runs over a 9-week period, from Thursday 3rd February – Thursday 7th April 2022. There will be no session held on Thursday 31st March, as Cranbourne Golf Club is hosting the 2022 Australian Amateur Championships.
The next phase of the Ladies Pathway Program will involve the Ladies now understanding how to navigate their way around the golf course with more clubs. The Ladies will learn how to hit lofted shots with shorter irons and wedges, with some specific games and practice drills designed to teach the Ladies distance control with their clubs and gain a better understanding as to how far the golf ball travels when a certain length of swing is achieved.
The Ladies will have the opportunity to apply what they learned through the Pathway Program clinics on the golf course, experiencing what it is like to play a hole from start to finish. This also teaches the Ladies what it is like to be a Golf Club member, learning key aspects to playing a round of golf, such as etiquette practices, in a fun and relaxing environment surrounded by their peers.
The program will consist of nine 90-minute clinics, running from 10:30am-12:00pm, followed by a choice of lunch from our kitchen and with the Ladies membership body, and will conclude with the opportunity for on-course play. The program also includes an Off-Peak Membership for everyone who participates in the program, whereby the Ladies will be able to book via the Pro Shop to play golf at times specified in the Course Access section above.
The cost of the program is $449, to reflect the program lasting an extra two weeks. This works out to be $50 per clinic, including lunch, any hire equipment that may be required, and the opportunity to use the golf course during Off-Peak times at no extra cost.
The program begins in just 2 weeks, and runs until April 7th. The program includes an off-peak membership as well!

Congratulations to Ashni Solanki (right) from Victoria Golf Club on winning the 2021 Women’s Cranbourne Amateur Championship. Women’s Nett Winner (left) was Suah Suah from Eastern Golf Club.
Due to the gathering limits the event was run as a 2 tee start rather than siren, and with a full field of 104 players for this year’s Championship, our groups moved well around the course to ensure that everyone finished the event before dark in otherwise great conditions for golf. Our last group on each nine finished their shots around the green under torch (mobile phone) light, but we made it!

All visitors to Cranbourne Golf Club should note that from 21st December 2020, the South Gippsland Highway entrance is no longer in use.
We have put together some instructions that should assist you in navigating your way to the new entrance. In each set of instructions you will see a link to Google Maps with pre-loaded directions, as well as an image of the directions adjacent to each set of instructions.

What’s Next?
With the opening of our new entrance, the City of Casey have now taken ownership of the strip of land that our now redundant driveway sits on. The first few hundred metres of this land from South Gippsland highway is required for the new road to widen and turning lanes to be constructed, with a traffic lighted intersection where our current gates are the end result. Once all of this is completed, Club access will be available from both the West and the East, off Glasscocks Road via our new entrance.
The Club is currently constructing a newly laid driveway into the Club, and looking at options for the new entrance and gate area, so the fencing and gates in place at the moment are only a temporary solution for this area.

Cranbourne Senior Amateur
A great field of 100 players contested the Cranbourne Senior Amateur this week. Congratulations to Heather Harley (Kooringal Golf Club) and Gordon Claney (Kingston Heath Golf Club) on their victories after a tough 36 holes.
It was great to see some Cranbourne names feature among the resluts, particularly our very own Melinda Crawford who won the women’s stableford event.

21st May 2020 – Statement from the Club on vandalism to 4th green:
‘Many of you would have seen articles and clips in today’s media about vandalism found on our 4th green yesterday morning.
Our Course Staff arrived before first light to prepare the course for play and found that offensive images had been spray painted onto the green. These consisted of foul language, phallic drawings and of most concern, swastikas.
Everyone at the Club has great pride in the foundation of Cranbourne Golf Club in the early 1950’s by a group from the Jewish Community, as a not-for-profit Club where ‘everyone is welcome’ regardless of race, religion, faith or gender. The only prerequisite is that our Members be of good character.
It is for this reason more than any other that we find this vandalism abhorrent in it’s nature and unacceptable in any forum, at any time.
The Club has acted quickly, immediately removing this hole from play and utilising our short game area as a temporary 19th hole, to avoid any inconvenience for our Members who are loving their golf again after the break. Our Course Staff are painting over the graffiti with specialised turf paint, and it is expected to be back in play for the weekend.
The Club has reported the matter to police, who have increased patrols in the areas in and around the Club, and also to the Anti-Defamation Commission.’
We have had wonderful support from many, many people, and on behalf of the Club and our Members – Thank you.
Status of the Club during COVID-19
Update – 21st May 2020
Although our Members are back enjoying their golf at the Club since the resumption of play in Victoria, we are monitoring demand on time sheets and will communicate here once Guests and Visitors may return to also enjoy our Club (in a socially responsible manner).
We look forward to further opening our doors soon.

Cancer Council
Longest Day of Golf 2019
A magnificent effort by our Members who undertook the Longest Day of Golf on Monday 16th December 2019, raising a combined $21,800 for this worthy charity!
14 Cranbourne Members played 72 holes in one day to raise funds for the Cancer Council, with the ‘Crannies Grannies’ again leading the way contributing $15,846 between them, trumping their total raised last year. Our other Members who helped raise money and played the 72 holes were Matthew & Geoff Cook, Zac Anthony, Alex Desa, Anand Thillaisundarum, Shane Pietersz & Denham De Silva, also raising contributing significantly to the cause.

In the second year of the Cranbourne Amateur Championship, a full field of 100 players enjoyed a perfect Winter’s day on the course.
At the end of the day there were some sharp scores atop the leaderboard, with 11 players shooting par or better for the Championship.
Congratulations to our 2019 Champions, who certainly brought their ‘A Game’ today with 66 & 67 Gross respectively – Konrad Ciupek & Kono Matsumoto. Both of our Champions are Members at Victoria Golf Club!

A lovely day was had by all, particularly when they got to relish the warm Function Room and Tea/Coffees after being out in the cold for their golf!
